Transforming Lives Through Education and Opportunity

Next Step Learning Center is an adult literacy program serving older youth and adults in Oakland, and especially West and Downtown Oakland. Founded in 1994 by the Sisters of the Holy Names, Next Step addresses the high dropout rate in Oakland with energy and innovation, providing resources for participants to achieve their educational and life goals. Next Step is a California 501c(3) nonprofit organization funded by gifts and grants and enhanced by the volunteer services of over 70 tutors from Oakland and the broader East Bay.
